For this reason, we plant four different types of basil in the garden. When some types of basil are harvested, the sweet and peppery scent is so intense that it takes away our senses. The sun is essential for the basil plant, and the more sunshine it can have, the more intense the flavour and aroma will be. Ha! As you know, here in Israel, we have enough sun – all year round.
